How to Get Rid of That Scary Feeling After Watching a Horror Movie

Updated: Apr 11, 2022

Watch a movie in the morning to make it look less scary

Why watch it in the morning? Because after watching, you will be overloaded with your work, school work, job, housework. Keeping yourself busy can help you get distracted.

Do not watch alone

It is worse when you watch alone because there is no much distraction. Find someone to watch with you. I suggest that this person sitting besides you is not afraid to watch horror movies. The more the merrier! By doing so, you are less likely to be scared after the movie is over.

Watch the special feature to learn about the movie

See how the film is made, it usually doesn't look as real and scary. Most DVDs offer behind-the-scenes features, and you can find director's specials online. Throughout the process, you'll learn how they made the costumes, the locations, how they chose music.

When the scary part comes, try muting it

Often, the scariest parts of your voice are designed to improve your reflexes. If you watch it without sound. Possibly, less fear you will get. Maybe you can avoid the scary scene by pulling a pillow over your head.

Remind yourself this is just a movie

If you still remember some scene that make you can't sleep, tell yourself it is fake. Maybe you have to repeat it, but it helps to reassure yourself that the movie is a work of fiction before you fully believe it's fake.

P:S If you're still scared and don't think these tips are helpful, don't watch. :)
