Extra tips:

Scammers use the same method. They will say you are involved in a criminal case and they are calling from a police station or court. It is trending for many years. Therefore, when you receive a suspicious call like this, your best bet is to go directly to the police station to review any reports filed against you or to consult the court registrar. Do the same if a bank is involved. Your bank will never ask for your account number, social security number, name, address or password in an email or text message. They will only ask you to provide this information to verify your identity when you call them directly.
